Sign Mounting Options & Fasteners

Choosing the right mounting method ensures your signage stays secure while allowing the flexibility you need for installation or future updates. Below are the recommended mounting options and their ideal applications.

Velcro – Paired Hook & Loop

Paired hook-and-loop adhesive Velcro works best on stable, rigid, flat, and clean surfaces, whether vertical or horizontal. This option is ideal for interior signs that require occasional removal while still maintaining a secure hold.

After installation, the adhesive typically cures within approximately 24 hours, after which removal may become difficult and could potentially lift paint or wallpapered surfaces.

Typically, the hook (rigid) strip is attached to the sign, while the loop strip is applied to the mounting surface. Ensure measurements and placement are correct before installation. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust or residue.

Velcro – Hook Only

Hook-only adhesive Velcro works best on fabric-covered surfaces, such as cubicle walls or partitions with sufficient looped or twisted fabric pile.

This option is suited for situations where interior signs may need occasional removal, particularly in office environments with fabric partitions.

Once the adhesive cures within 12–24 hours, repositioning or removal may become difficult and could damage painted or papered surfaces. Typically, the hook strip is attached to the sign, allowing it to attach directly to fabric surfaces.

High-Grade Double-Sided Adhesive Tape

High-grade double-sided adhesive tape performs best on stable, rigid, flat, and clean surfaces, whether vertical or horizontal.

This mounting option is recommended for permanent interior signage installations. Once the adhesive cures within 12–24 hours, it becomes difficult to adjust or remove and may damage painted or wallpapered surfaces.

Be sure to carefully measure placement before installation. Surfaces should always be clean and dry for proper adhesion.

Cubicle Pins

Cubicle pins are ideal for fabric-faced hollow partition walls, such as office cubicles and workspace dividers.

This mounting solution works well when interior signs require occasional removal or when the fabric surface is too fine for Velcro to properly attach.

VHB Ultra Double-Sided Adhesive Tape

VHB Ultra Double-Sided Adhesive Tape is designed for stable, rigid, flat surfaces and can be used for both interior and exterior signage installations.

This option is intended for permanent mounting. After curing for 12–24 hours, the bond becomes extremely strong and removal will likely damage the mounting surface.

Proper surface preparation is essential. Always clean and dry the surface before installation and confirm sign placement before applying the adhesive.

Mounting Holes

Mounting holes allow signs to be secured using screws or hardware, making them ideal for permanent interior or exterior installations.

Compared to adhesive methods, screw-mounted signs can often be removed with less surface damage, making them a flexible long-term solution.

Office Nameplates provides the mounting holes only. Screws and mounting hardware are not included. For proper installation, consult a building specialist who can recommend appropriate anchors or hardware for your wall surface.

Mounting Holes with Double-Sided Tape Tabs

This mounting option combines screws with double-sided adhesive tape tabs, providing additional stability during installation.

The combination works best on stable, rigid, flat surfaces and is suitable for permanent interior or exterior signage installations. It is particularly helpful when installing multiple screws is not ideal.

While removal typically causes less damage than adhesive-only mounting, some minor surface marks may still occur.

Office Nameplates provides mounting holes only, and installation hardware is not included. A building professional can assist with selecting the appropriate hardware and anchors.
